LEGISLATIVE & OTHER ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
-First law in Kentucky to require DNA testing of convicted offenders
-First proposal to establish, by law, the VINE system (Victim Notification)
-Established new law for “emergency dispatchers” (telecommunicators) in KY to have better training and certification.
-Revamped laws for the utilization of “inter-local agreements” between local governments to save taxpayers money and improve services for them.
-Sponsored first law about energy efficiency and performance contracting in government buildings savings millions of dollars in costs.
-Established new rules to deter “storm chasers” and reduce roofing fraud on homeowners.
-Revised law requiring child booster seats to make them effective and save lives.
-New system and promotion of radon testing and mitigation to reduce lung cancer
-Laws improving the “Call 811 Before You Dig” System to reduce chances of explosion or fire.
-Established the first use of cable barriers in Kentucky to reduce cross-over accidents.
-First legislative district in Jefferson County to use the flashing yellow left turn arrows at intersections to reduce traffic congestion.
-First law to reduce identity theft by improving cyber security protocall and procedures.
-Won several awards from Kentucky League of Cities for legislative leadership and accomplishment.
-Elected President of NCOIL (National Conference of Insurance Legislators) – a 50 state organization for insurance and financial services and their model laws.
